Waste to Energy and Compost Copy
The Kompogas Dry Anaerobic Digestion plant converts an average of 36,500 US tons of green waste and bio-waste a year into three products:
Energy
6.2 million kilowatt-hours a year of electricity derived from carbon-neutral biogas.
Around 20% is used to power the plant, while around 80% is sold to PG&E – enough to power over 600 homes a year!
Solid Compost
Over 20,000 US tons/year sold to local growers
Liquid Digestate
Over 1,700 US tons/year for soil amendment for local growers
